At our centre having an enriched learning curriculum is mandatory. Children are encouraged to dissect their own interests and curiosities utilizing the high scope method. In addition to high scope Kids Development Daycare also promotes set routines for learning and will have designated activities for children to learn numbers, phonics, early reading skills and sight words along with other cognitive enhanced activities. With a touch of high scope along with set program routines, children will be lured to decision making, exploring and discovering, learning, and interacting with other peers and centre adults.

Kids Development Daycare strives to ensure children at the centre are encouraged to express themselves,
communicate in their own style and pace as well as maintain self-regulation. We have an
integrated program that involves diverse children with different skills, abilities and cultures that is always respected. We provide an inclusive environment that includes the following:
- Every child has equal rights to participate in all activities at the centre that is age appropriate
- Respecting every family and children of the centre regardless of their culture, religion, ethnic background, ancestry, language(s), gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, family environment and their developmental abilities and needs.
- Understand and view the diversity of children and families to plan programs that will enhance and benefit the environment.
- Providing and planning programs that foster a complete, wide ranging learning environment where every child may participate.
- Promote an environment that supports a child to self-regulate and obtain a state of calm so they can develop to curb their emotions, maintain attention, and understand consequences to their actions.
- Promote communication via activities and play where children are able to explore and expand their learning.
Program
All children that receive care for 6 hours or more at a licensed centre must be provided with a
rest period. It is not necessary your child sleeps however is encouraged to rest quietly on their cots for approximately one hour.
Our curriculum for all our age groups is designed to foster growth of every child. We reference Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years and focus on children’s social, emotional, physical, creative, and cognitive development in a holistic way. We provide environments in which children learn through exploration, play, and inquiry and where they can build positive and responsive relationships. All children are geared to engage in self-reflection and discussion. The use of pedagogical documentation is adapted by all staff to study, interpret, make visible, and help children’s learning and development.

Toddlers & Preschoolers
- Ratio for toddlers is 1:5 and preschoolers is 1:8 (may differ as stated in the CCEYA through different times/transitions of the day)
- Both age groups follow a flexible group schedule
- Both age groups daily experience is verbally communicated at end of the day pick-up
- A significant play/ learning experience is written periodically in each child’s Continuum of Development booklet
- Parent/educator conferences provided upon parent request
- Program includes opportunities for exploring indoors and outdoors (for fulltime program), music and movement, discovering creative and sensory material, puzzles, stories, blocks, dramatic play and learning to play with others
